Blogtober 2024 : Day 20

An open laptop with the latest Winwick Mum blog post on the screen. Next to the laptop on the wooden table is an orange mug of tea and a cupcake with a candle in it. In the background are bookcases filled with books

There’s a bit of a celebration today on the Winwick Mum blog – this is my 1,000th post!  I know!  I hadn’t been keeping count so I was quite stunned when I looked at my list of posts and saw that yesterday’s post was number 999.  Wow!

I keep catching myself with a big grin on my face.  1,000 posts!  That’s fourteen years’ worth of Winwick Mum musings and ramblings, and I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without the blog.  Not just because this is where I publish my patterns, tutorials and Monthly Musings, but because of my connections with you and with my life over the years.  I have a record of my girls growing up, of what’s been in the garden, what I’ve seen out on walks with the dog, all sorts of wonderful yarny things like my collaborations with West Yorkshire Spinners and I’ve made wonderful yarny friends, too.  It’s been amazing!

There should always be cake at a celebration, so I whipped up some vegan cupcakes this afternoon to have after our Sunday dinner with a cup of tea.  I could have decorated them – but we decided to eat them just as they were and they were really good!  I’ve used the Jane’s Patisserie website recipes for vegan cakes for a good few years now (for various family requirements) and they have never let me down.

I’m going to eat my cake, drink my tea and grin at myself a bit more, because tomorrow’s post will be 1,001 and I’ll be working towards the next 999 after that 🙂  Thanks for being here to celebrate with me, it’s so lovely that you’re here! xx
