Blogtober 2024 : Day 29

It’s 29 October!  Goodness, only two days left in October, can you believe it?  Blogtober is always such a good month with how it makes me look around and notice what’s in front of me so that I can write about it every day, but at the same time, it makes the month rush past in a bit of a blur – and now, with just two days left, you’re going to get all the photos that were on my camera this month that I haven’t shown you yet! 🤣

The clocks went back at the weekend and now suddenly, the nights feel like they’re really drawing in.  My husband asked me this morning how long it would be before we were getting up in the dark and although I couldn’t quite remember when that happens, we are heading towards the shortest day now.  I’ve noticed that there’s a last frenzy of buzzing around the flower borders, and out with the dog the other day I spotted more ladybirds in one place than I think I’ve seen all summer!

The sunsets won’t be over but they’ll be earlier and earlier now, and as I’ve been taking the dog out in the evenings this week, it means we will definitely be walking in the dark if we carry on like that.

We went out with a friend and her dog this morning, and the dog has been snoring on his bed for most of the day so I clearly managed to wear him out!  He’s just opened his eyes to look at me – he knows I’m writing about him!

I have spent the rest of today working on accounts.  It’s our company year end (my day job) and I need to get everything straight for the accountant who also wants to get ahead with our personal tax returns so I can see that the next few days are going to be full of figures (deep joy!).

I’m not always very good at clocking off as it’s too easy to stay online and disappear down internet search rabbit holes, but I definitely did tonight (apart from speaking to you – you are a joyful exception!) and I’ve spent the evening watching TV and knitting – it’s been wonderful!

I’m onto the foot of my second sock of the Winter Haven KAL pattern and I’m still really happy with it.  I think I am going to knit a pair in Winter Icicle as well, as I think the pattern will look lovely in both that and Spring Green to show you.

Look which cheeky madam pinched my seat when I got up to make a brew!

And that, my friends, is me for tonight.  I’m going back to my sock and I will see you again tomorrow, I hope you’ve had a lovely day! xx
