Christmas and holiday sock wrap labels

I think that hand knitted socks make the BEST presents for someone that you love or care about.  It offers you the opportunity to think about the colours they would like, the pattern that would suit them best – and all the time that you are knitting them, that person is never far from your thoughts.

I don’t have any evidence or statistics to prove this, but my guess is that the majority of gifted socks are knitted around the end of the year, thanks to all of the holidays that take place in different countries and cultures – and I think it’s wonderful that socks are a perfect gift for all of them!

I’ve written on the blog before about blocking socks so that they look their best when you hand them over to their new owner (I’ve got tutorial posts on blocking socks with blockers and without blockers), but what about the washing instructions and a fun label to go with them?

You may well have seen labels like this before or even made your own, and if you do an internet search then there’s no shortage of options, but I thought I would add my own to the mix!  I’ve created labels for both Christmas and holiday/winter-themed which you can download for free so that you’ve got a choice whether you celebrate Christmas or not.

All you need to do is print the labels, cut them out, wrap them around your socks and tape or glue the edges together – it’s that easy!  There are tick boxes for the washing instructions (I think I’ve thought of everything but I’m sure you could squeeze more in if you needed to) and because the labels are made of paper, they’re recyclable too.  Hooray!

The holiday labels are similar, but without the Christmas references …

So how can you download them?

They’re in a couple of places on the blog so hopefully you’ll always be able to find them.  Firstly, the blog shop, where I eventually plan to have all my patterns and printables whether free or paid so that it’s easy to add them to your cart.

However, because of all the fun tax regulations that come with selling anything at all these days (it seems), you can only download them through the blog shop if you’re in the UK so I’ll add the links here too.  If you live overseas, just click these and it’ll solve the postcode problem and get around the quirkiness of the blog shop that will sometimes allow you to download free PDFs if you’re overseas and sometimes won’t 🙂

Here you go – and I hope all your gift knitting goes wonderfully well! xx

PS – Not going to finish your gift knitting in time?  Don’t worry, you can always give the recipient an IOU and take the stress of knitting to a deadline off your shoulders!
